A Penny Saved is a Penny Learned!
2010 $tart $mart Teachers Summit

Teaching the fundamentals of financial literacy has never been more important to the success of our
youth. Yet education has not gone untouched by budget crunches during the tight economy.

The Utah Jump$tart Coalition for Personal Financial Literacy recognizes that teachers are a valuable resource to reach children. We focus much of our outreach efforts by identifying resources and partnerships for teachers that will assist them in sharing personal finance concepts with their students in the classroom.

The Utah Jump$tart Coalition knows that teachers need resources for ensuring they have the latest information and tools to be successful in the classroom. That’s why we continue to hold the Utah Jump$tart Coalition Teacher Summit.

This year the event will have plenty of classes on the subjects you really want and need—28 breakout sessions in all. Whether you teach elementary, middle or high school, Math, Social Studies, Language Arts or Financial Literacy, there will be classes to fit your age group and curriculum needs more directly than ever before.

High school teacher courses will focus on the four standards with classes geared in both content and in delivery methodology. The standards include helping students to:

1. Use a rational decision-making process to set and implement financial goals.

2. Understand sources of income and the relationship between income & career preparation.

3. Understand principles of money management.

4. Understand saving, investing, and retirement planning.

Plus, attendees can learn about implementing financial literacy technology in the classroom, hear from keynote speakers from the financial industry and have a whole lot of fun.

This summit is designed for K-12 educators.
